About Me

Lisa Johnson
I became a writer the day I learned the alphabet. I blog about whatever I’m into any given day—stupid cat stories, the nature of God, stoplight musings, kale, church, traffic, age, kayaking, weight loss. See the pattern? No? Good. I worked for ad agencies in New York and Atlanta, loved it, lasted 16 years before it wore me out. I freelanced for a while, then took on corporate communications, which, as anyone in the field will tell you, tends to put you to sleep. But it was a paycheck, and I had a good boss, so I was contented. Now I have the best boss and I'm way past contented: I'm retired. I’m a seminary graduate—Candler School of Theology, Emory University. I tried pastoring— loved preaching and Bible study, hated being church CEO. I wrote a book about my brother, who was homeless most of his adult life. It was published on January 14, 2020: Postcards from Lonnie. I’ll share excerpts here, and you can get your own copy on Amazon or through bookstores. I had cancer twice, kicked its butt twice. (Women: mammos, please.) My blog name is from Jeremiah 31:18—“I was like a calf untrained….” See? Untrained? Wandering all over the place, topic-wise? Life-wise? There it is.
